A handout picture released by the Jordanian Royal Palace on March 2, 2016 shows Jordan's King Abdullah II (2-L), in the city of Zarqa, attending the funeral of Captain Rashed Zyoud, who was killed during a raid conducted in Irbid by Jordanian security forces on Islamic State (IS) group jihadists.
Jordan said that it had thwarted planned attacks by the Islamic State (IS) group on its soil, killing seven suspected jihadists in a major security operation near the Syrian frontier. The kingdom, which also borders Iraq, has for years struggled with homegrown Islamists and is part of a US-led coalition carrying out air strikes against jihadists.
The operation, which began late March 1 in the northern city of Irbid was the most significant of its kind since Jordan joined the coalition in 2014. / AFP / Handout / RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE - MANDATORY CREDIT "AFP PHOTO / JORDANIAN ROYAL PALACE / YOUSEF ALLAN" - NO MARKETING NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS - DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS ===
